Hi all,

Im starting up a new PAT Testing business in berkshire and surrounding areas.

Apart from the obvious forms of advertising, has anyone found something that really works?

I have been advised to join a business networking group but that's quite expensive!

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks guys

Mark

Hi Mark.
The best way to get new business is to get yourself some flyers printed up and take them around to prospective businesses, introducing yourself along the way.

A website is also quite important. This can be put on the literature that you produce and can provide people with information about your services that you offer. You can also include contact forms on here so people can email you enquires and you can respond when you are in the office!

Also listing yourself on local directories and free listings on yell.com are useful, they can also link to your website.
If you have a van make sure you have your branding on here and your website and tel number as it acts as your advertising billboard, the more eye catching the better!
It is all about getting your name out there, word of mouth is still the best, you could also offer incentives for recommendations.

Database and telephone marketing is very important, especially as PAT Testing is usually annual for most businesses.
Building up a database of companies that you want to contact is vital, call them and find out who the person is who is responsible for the PAT testing decisions. Once you have their details send them a letter with your offering and then follow this up with a phone call. If you can establish how many items they have and when the testing is due you can schedule to contact then again when they are due for testing as this is the best way to win the business.

I hope this helps? Let us know how you get on and good luck marketing your business.
