As it’s the Electrical Fire Safety Week this week, we’re looking at ten things you can tell your clients and future clients to encourage them to stay safe whilst using electrical appliances.<\/p>\n

  1. Encourage them to download the free ESC consumer safety app<\/li>\n
  2. Tell them of the importance of keeping a look out for any visual problems and damage to appliances<\/li>\n
  3. Discuss the importance of not overloading sockets and extension leads<\/li>\n
  4. Discourage them from using any appliances which they find has worn or frayed wires<\/li>\n
  5. Tell them the importance of buying chargers from reputable retailers<\/li>\n
  6. Encourage them to keep appliances clean and in good order<\/li>\n
  7. Discuss the awareness of keeping flammable materials away from electricity<\/li>\n
  8. If they use an electric blanket, ensure they know to unplug it before going to sleep<\/li>\n
  9. If they have any appliances bought abroad, make sure these have been fitted with a UK standard plug<\/li>\n
  10. Look out for any signs of overheating and stop using any appliances immediately if confirmed<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    By all of us ensuring we not only carry out our PAT jobs but are also encouraging clients to be safe between PAT tests, we can help reduce electrical appliance accidents.<\/p>\n
