{"id":98,"date":"2012-09-28T13:41:47","date_gmt":"2012-09-28T13:41:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.pat-testing-course.com\/blog\/?p=98"},"modified":"2012-10-09T08:41:03","modified_gmt":"2012-10-09T08:41:03","slug":"have-you-promoted-electrical-fire-safety-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pat-testing-course.com\/blog\/news\/have-you-promoted-electrical-fire-safety-week\/","title":{"rendered":"Have you Promoted Electrical Fire Safety Week?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The national Electrical Fire Safety Week has been underway across the UK this week.<\/p>\n<p>This initiative, which sees the ESC, the Fire and Rescue Service and the Government &#8216;Fire Kills&#8217; campaign come together for mutual benefit, has been promoting electrical safety and raising awareness of fire risks throughout the week.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The campaign was set up in response to research by the ESC which found that people are extremely ignorant to the dangers of electricity and don\u2019t take the risks to themselves seriously enough.<\/p>\n<p>This research revealed that nearly one million people repaired an appliance whilst it was still plugged in and over 12 million people used a plug or socket which they knew was faulty, whilst two million of us admitted to trailing cables near hot surfaces and cookers.<\/p>\n<p>These figures highlight that people are underestimating how much danger they are actually in and aren\u2019t considering the consequences of their actions as risks.<\/p>\n<p>It is exactly these attitudes that the Electrical Fire Safety Week has been set up to combat.
